1st drive pupil - Tony
I was fed up taking the bus then the train to university, every day I had to get up so early! Plus I really wanted some independence. My parents helped me pay for my lessons - well after all, they did help my sister when she passed a few years back.
It was all so easy with my 1st drive instructor who made my feel at ease as soon as I got behind the wheel. I was driving right from my first lesson too, which helped to boost my confidence and calm my nerves. I also got tuition material from my instructor to help me prepare for the Theory exam.
Going through all the manoeuvres, my instructor always stayed calm and helped me focus on each task and went over anything I was unsure of again with to help me get things right. 'Patience' is definitely his middle name!
I took regular lessons, sometimes for one hour sometimes for two and this helped me build my knowledge and skill. Learning to drive in the Yaris was so simple and the controls are easy to use. Also I'm 6' 4" and I was very comfortable and didn't feel cramped in any way.
The flexibility offered by 1st drive was great and they always suited my university commitments. I think it's important to be comfortable with your instructor. Mine came recommended as he also helped my sister pass her test. Now I have freedom of the road (when my mum lets me use her car) and I don't need to meet my girlfriend at the bus stop any more. It's Great!
